Nearly 930 invitations issued in latest Saskatchewan Express Entry draw
The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) conducted a huge provincial nomination draw on October 24. The draw saw invitations distributed to 922 Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand candidates. These 922 lucky immigration candidates can now apply for provincial nominations, which will bring them closer to gaining Canadian permanent residence.
The SINP draws its provincial nominations through two streams. First is through the Express Entry stream, where it accesses the profiles of eligible candidates in the federal Express Entry system. Express Entry manages profiles from Canada’s three main economic immigration categories: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Federal Skilled Worker Class. In addition, the other stream is Occupation In-Demand, which is largely open for eligible immigrants without Express Entry profiles.
The candidates from both Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand need to register for an Expression of Interest (EOI) before they can be considered in Saskatchewan draws. The EOI gives them a score based on their education, English or French proficiency, work history, and age. Although the highest-scoring candidates are prioritized, the minimum EOI score for the latest draw was 69 out of 100. For Express Entry candidates, receiving provincial nominations means they get 600 points for their Express Entry profiles. As a result, provincial nominations almost guarantee selection for Canadian permanent residence.
Expanded Occupations List
Saskatchewan has had nine different invitation draws in that past month. These selections have followed Saskatchewan’s recent expansion of eligible jobs for in-demand occupations. On September 25, Saskatchewan disposed of their in-demand occupations list in favour of an exclusions list. So, this meant that the 216 occupations not on the exclusions list were eligible. This draw had the largest range of targeted occupations, with the selected candidates stemming from 130 different occupations
Of the nine draws that took place since September 25, four have been Occupation In-Demand exclusive and five have been for Express Entry candidates. Altogether, 3,846 lucky candidates have received provincial nomination invitations.
