The year began with a bang and lots of good news for the Express Entry pool applicants with the first threshold lowering to 446, which is a record low as a first draw in a year since Express Entry came into functionality in 2015
In this first draw the Canadian government invited 2,750 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence. The draw was held on January 10, 2018.

This score is the same as the last CRS threshold for 2017, which was held on December 20. Since 2015, this first cut off is the lowest ever. IRCC also made use of the tie-break rule again and the cut- off date and time was set to November 18, 2017, at 6:30:42 UTC.

In 2017, the first draw had a cut off of 468, but subsequent draws saw lower thresholds with the minimum dip ever in June at 413. This year is expected to be a busy one, with immigration targets set at almost 1 million till 2020. 16 draws were held in the first half of 2017, but this year is envisaged to see many more draws as immigration targets go up. CRS thresholds are also expected to fall as more ITA’s are sent out in each draw.

Canada Education Consultants are one of the renowned consultants that guide you the best way for study and immigration in Canada.

In 2017 a total of 30 draws were held with 86,023 ITA’s being sent out. 3200 more ITA’s are expected to be sent out in the three Express Entry economic streams alone, with many more immigrants finding way into the country through the Family Class and the PNP programmes.

A total of 153,618 ITA’s have been issued since the Express Entry economic streams came into existence in 2015. The no of ITA’s issued in 2017 alone is almost 56 percent of the total ITA’s issued so far.

This year has started at almost 22 points less than the first draw of 2017. It is expected to translate into more people coming in through the Express Entry during the course of the year as larger and more frequent draws are held to accomplish immigrant targets. This in turn will definitely mean lower cut offs all throughout the year.

Canada has increase its immigration targets for the next three years which might see an influx of about 1 million new Permanent Residents in the country. With setting of these bigger targets for Canada’s economic immigration categories for 2018, Immigration and Refugees Canada will only be left with the option of quicker and frequent draws from the pool in the new year’s or to take in more candidates meaning a larger draw. Both of these options will affect the Combined Ranking Scores bringing the threshold to a lower cut off.

In 2017, all the CRS thresholds have hovered between 400 to 450s. In most of the draws in 2017, they remained around the 430’s. 2017 also saw the lowest threshold so far in June at 4013. In 2016 this trend did not prevail as there were fewer ITA with very high cut-offs. The lowest CRS score in 2016 was 453. In 2018, it is expected that many more ITA’s will be issued, and this translates to expecting much lower CRS scores.

2017 also saw a few exceptional draws, like on May 26th and Nov 1st, where candidates with provincial nominations and Federal Skilled Trades Class were targeted. This peaked to a high at 775 for provincial nominees and fell to as low as 199 for Federal Skilled Trades Class. It is important to note that provincial nominees receive extra 600 points for nomination on their express entry application.
When draws are made on program mes specifications, they always have an effect of reducing the thresholds in the Express Entry System. But November seems to have set in a new and dynamic trend for 2018, and for obvious reasons, 2018 will be an year to watch out for.

The five amendments that are done in Canada benefit international students as well as the permanent residents, who held protected person status or were temporary residents such as work permit and study permit holders.
As On 11th October, the Canadian permanent residents who were previously on study permit will be able to count a portion of their time while studying towards Canadian citizenship residency requirement. There was also reduction in the physical presence for 3 to 4 years. It means international students and graduates, who would be looking to settle in Canada can enjoy the better way for their needs.

How this benefits international students
As per the new regulations, each day of the permanent residents spent in Canada as an international student or a post graduation work permit holder, was counted as a half day for up to a maximum of 365 possible days. The new measures and the reduction in the days for physical presence for three years could mean the workers and the international graduates in Canada are eligible to apply for citizenship after two years of being permanent residents.Morever, the government no longer needed the citizenship applicants to be present in Canada for 183 or more days in 4 out of 6 years preceding the citizenship application as was earlier.

As before, the time spent in Canada on temporary status was not counted for citizenship. The students would be counting their physical presence requirement for citizenship after getting the permanent residence. The residents had to be present in Canada for 4 to 6 years to fulfill the physical presence requirements in order to be eligible to apply for the citizenship.

A good 14 percent of them were Indians. 51 percent of international students studying in the institutions there, plan to apply for permanent residence in Canada and 37 percent say they will stay on for further education. International students make up for 11 percent of post-secondary student population in Canada. Among the countries that send maximum no of students to study in Canada, India comes a close second, only to China.

In 2014 the number of internationally mobile students crossed the 5 million mark, and it is estimated that by 2022 the number of students studying abroad will reach 7 million.

In surveys being held, 95 percent students cite Canada as the best study destination. A massive, 91 percent students are satisfied with their experience in Canada.International students consider Engineering, business and the natural and social sciences as the top fields of study in Canada.Canada Education Consultants is one of the premier consultants  to get the best education in Canada for the Indians

In a latest boost, the country is now planning an increase in the no. of international students and academic researchers to more than 4.5 lakh by the year 2022. This will be an economic fillip to the universities, since international students pay much higher tuition fee than Canadians. The Canadian Trade ministry has clarified that the move will be made without reducing the seats for the Canadian students. The federal strategy is also to increase the no of jobs sustained by overseas students by almost a lakh. The ministry is planning to spend almost 5 lakh a year to fund a marketing and branding campaign so that international students are lured to Canada as a high-quality education hub at relatively low cost.

A new study on international students has pointed to that fact that international students who study and work in Canada earn more after the completion of their graduation. The study titled  “international students, immigration and earnings growth: the effect of a pre-immigration host-country university education” was conducted to study the differences in wages for Canadian- educated immigrants, Canadian citizens and foreign educated immigrants.

The biggest factor for the conclusion emerging from the study is that students who land in Canada for studies and then stay on to work acquire a greater understanding of the job market in their chosen field of study. They also have better language proficiency and seem to develop greater affinity with important people in the workforce.

The study has brought to the fore the fact that there is a great market value of Canadian work and education experience which boosts the earning potential of international students in Canada. The study focused on two main questions. The first, whether university educated international students earn as much as their Canadian born counterparts and the second, whether Canadian educated immigrants earn much more than foreign educated immigrants.

The Key findings from the study state that Canadian-educated immigrants have lower-earnings than the Canadian-born population, but higher earnings than foreign-educated immigrants.A key factor differentiating international students’ post-immigration earnings from the earnings of those who are Canadian-born and foreign-educated is whether they had a well-paid job in Canada before becoming permanent residents. Some of the reasons behind the earning gap of Canadian-educated immigrants were due to the fact that they were part of a visible minority and they spent more time pursuing additional education. This leads to the fact that the number of years working and a longer exposure to the labour market may have a significant impact on the earning potential.

A key factor differentiating post-immigration earnings of Canadian-educated immigrants from the Canadian-born population and foreign-educated immigrants is whether international students held a well-paid job before becoming permanent residents. So , for a prosperous future for tomorrow  , approach  Canada Education Consultants in India.

Some of the reasons why international students are at a disadvantage of gaining a well-paid job or developing Canadian work history are also enumerated by the study. These were that international students often pursue education beyond the bachelor’s level, which results in fewer years in the workforce. Some international students begin their Canadian education at an older age and take longer to complete their studies. And Some may find it difficult to find a good job after graduation if their networking with connections in the job market has not been up to the mark. So , study in Canada to get the top level exposure for education.

The study shows that it is essential to know and comprehend factors that restrict international students from getting high-paying jobs even after procuring Canadian education.
