ITA’s Express Entry Draw

Alterba EE

Immigrating to Alberta with a EE-CRS score of 300

Alberta has announced 14 rounds of invitation through its Express Entry-linked immigration programs so far in 2019.

A total of 3,357 Notifications of Interest were sent out. Express Entry applicants who have been issued the Notifications of Interest can receive an additional 600 points toward their CRS ranking score, which will basically guarantee the applicant’s permanent residency status.

Of the 14 rounds of invitation in 2019, three rounds invited EE candidates with CRS scores as low as 300, which is lower a lot than the lowest score drawn through a Federal EE draw so far this year. Also, a CRS 300 points is the minimum required score for a provincial nomination in Alberta.

To be nominated by Alberta, the applicant must be eligible for one of the three Federal Economic Immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program; Federal Skilled Trades Program; or Canadian Experience Class, and create a profile in the EE pool.

Although a job offer and previous study or work experience in Alberta is not required to be eligible for a provincial nomination, the candidate with a strong connection with the province may be prioritized for a Notifications of Interest. The strong connection can include the factors like have an Alberta job offer or work experience, graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution or have relative that is living in Alberta.

ITA’s Express Entry Draw

3,500 ITA’s in the 19th September draw at minimum threshold of 441

3,500 ITA’s in the 19th September draw at minimum threshold of 441

A total of 3,500 Express Entry candidates have been invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a new Express Entry draw held September 19. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score was 441.

The date and time used in this draw was September 6, 2018, at 10:28:45 UTC, which meant that all profiles entered before this date and time and all candidates with a CRS score of 441 and abovereceived an Invitation to Apply in this selection round.

Though this draw size was lesser than the previous September 9 draw size where 3900 ITA;s were sent out, it is still a large draw as compared to 2017  when draw sizes were even less than 3000.

Under the Express Entry system which has three categories, Federal Skilled Workers, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades, Candidates are ranked according to their CRS score and the highest-ranked candidates are issued an ITA through regular invitation rounds.

Express Entry candidates can increase their scores in many ways including a provincial nomination that results in 600 additional CRS points.

IRCC has now issued a total of 62,100 ITAs over 19 draws in 2018, which puts it slightly ahead of the 60,742 ITAs that were issued over the first 19 draws of 2017. However, the CRS threshold has remained a constant high as compared to 2017 and has not gone below 440 in this year. In 2017 minimum threshold touched a record low at 413 in June.

A total of 86,023 ITAs were issued in 2017. But according to the immigration targets announced for 2018-2020, a total of 1 million immigrants are to become permanent residents in the country. And it is possible that is the very reason of bigger draw sizes in this year.
