Canada Express Entry Draw

In the recent Express Entry draw on Saturday, the 13th of February 2021, a record 27, 332 candidates have been invited to apply for permanent residence. This was a CEC draw, which means that candidates in the Express Entry Pool with Canadian Experience were invited. The CEC usually covers students who have at least 1 year of Canadian Work experience in the NOC O, A or B and foreign workers who have completed 1 year of work in Canada and have an active profile in the Express Entry system.

Canada is looking to bring in more and more immigrants with a target of 401,000 in the year 2021 itself. This historic draw invited candidates with CRS (comprehensive ranking score) as low as 75. For candidates with the lowest score, the tie-breaker rule was applied on September 12, UTC 15:31. This means that candidates with the lowest score of 75, who had submitted their profile before September 12th, UTC 15:31 were sent out the invitations to apply.

This year like most of 2020, IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has only held either CEC or PNP draws. So only candidates with either Canadian experience or those who have been nominated by provinces have been considered.

IRCC regularly holds the draws every two weeks, which means at least 24 draws in a year. These could be all stream draws or stream specific. There are 4 streams that are handled through the Express Entry system namely, Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Class. In a typical draw, IRCC has been inviting about 5000 applicants for applying for Permanent Residence

Canada is the most immigrant friendly country at the moment, offering various Permanent Residence pathways to hopefuls from across the world. The Express Entry System that was launched in 2015, scores candidates on the basis on their age, education, work experience, language skills and various other adaptability factors like Job offer, blood relatives in Canada and more.

Canada Express Entry Draw

As the year draws to a close, pressure is on IRCC to get in as many new immigrants as they can, as they draw closer to a target of 400,000 new immigrants by the end of 2021.

The latest Express Entry draw saw invitations being sent out to 5000 candidates with a minimum CRS (comprehensive ranking score) of 472. This was an all stream draw, meaning candidates of all the three economic immigration streams i.e. Federal Skilled Workers, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class were selected. The tie break had been set to October 27th, 06:11:18 UTC, which means that invited candidates with the CRS score of 472, should have submitted their profiles before this date and time.

Express Entry system is the premiere immigration management system for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. It is also the quickest way to get permanent residence for Canada. All candidates entering the Express Entry pool are ranked on selection factors like, age, education, work experience, language ability, close relatives in Canada and job offer.

Due to COVID 19 and country specific closures, this year there were a few only Canadian Experience class draws as well, with candidates being selected at low scores ranging in the 440’s. The last Federal Skilled Trades only draw held on August 6 saw a CRS dip at 415.

Canada is increasingly being seen as a sought-after destination for settlement, with more and more people applying for permanent residence each year.

Express Entry

3350 candidates invited by Canada with the cut-off score of 470 in the Latest Express Entry draw

On May 29, 2019, Canada invited 3,350 Express Entry (EE) candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Since it has been almost a month from the previous draw, the cut-off score went up to 470, 20 points higher than last all-programs draw held on May 1, 2019.

All-programs draws involve candidates from the three Federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class, which are managed by the Express Entry system.

All-programs draws usually are held every two weeks. The more time between two draws, the more likely EE pool can accumulate higher-scoring candidates. That could affect the raising of the cut-off score.

So far in 2019, Canada has issued 35,100 Invitations to Apply (ITAs).

The admissions target for 2019 is 81,400 new permanent residents. 46,300 spots are still waiting to be filled. If you want to be one of them, please feel free to contact our professional Canada Immigration Consultants.

Saskatchewan PNP

325 invitations issued to Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand candidates by Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited 325 immigration candidates to apply for a Saskatchewan provincial nomination through its International Skilled Worker Category on May 22, 2019.

The International Skilled Worker Category consists of three sub-categories: Employment offer, Saskatchewan Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand.

Employment offer category requires candidates to have a job offer in Saskatchewan. The Saskatchewan Express Entry category and Occupation In-Demand category require candidates to have work experience in one of the 19 occupations that are currently listed as in-demand in the province. However, a job offer in Saskatchewan is not required for the two sub-categories. Please see the latest Occupation In-Demand list at the bottom of the page.

221 out of the 325 invitations went to Occupation In-Demand candidates. The rest 104 went to candidates in Saskatchewan Express Entry category.

A minimum of 60 out of 100 points on the SINP point assessment grid is needed to be considered for a provincial nomination. However, only the highest-scoring candidates are invited to apply. In the May 22 draw, the lowest score among both the Express Entry and the Occupation In-Demand candidates invited was 82.

So far in 2019, SINP has invited 854 Occupation In-Demand candidates and 814 Saskatchewan Express Entry candidates. The Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category is linked to the Federal Express Entry system, which is an online system managing the pool of immigration candidates for the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which will enhance their profile to obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence from the Government of Canada.

Return of the 60-day application deadline in Express Entry

IRCC has announced that is going back to a 60-day deadline for receiving the application for Permanent Residence after receiving the Invitation to apply. This new deadline is effective from June 26th2018.

In an email sent out to all applicants, IRCC said that it was resuming its original 60-day limit, which had been changed to 90 days in November 2016. This move is being touted to have been taken to serve customers better.

The email that was sent out read, “With this change, we are moving back to the original timeframe as it better reflects the intended design of Express Entry as a process leading to expedited results for you, our clients.”Fast processing of applications for permanent residence has been a goal for IRCC since the Express Entry system was first introduced.

IRCC said in its 2017 year-end report that80 per cent of Federal Skilled Worker applications that year were processed in four months or less from the moment a complete application is received. By reducing the application deadline by 30 days, IRCC may see the total Express Entry process get faster.

This change will also allow IRCC to know sooner which candidates who receive ITAs are applying or declining their invitations. These benefits, however, do put additional pressure on applicants to collect documents quickly.A report published by IRCC in December 2017 said that it found that 41 per cent of Express Entry candidates who received an ITA after November 2016 took advantage of the extended deadline and submitted their application between 61 days and 90 days after receiving an ITA.Only 57 per cent of applicants submitted their complete application within 60 days.
